Christopher Stacey - Chief Executive Expand Christopher joined Prisoners Abroad as Chief Executive in May 2023. Christopher is responsible leading the organisation, the governance of the charity and ensuring it is achieving its strategic goals, working with a dynamic and motivated board of trustees and a passionate and committed team of around 25 staff and many volunteers. Christopher has over 15 years experience of working in the criminal justice voluntary sector. Prior to joining Prisoners Abroad, Christopher was Director of Support and Development at Clinks between February 2021 and May 2023, and was acting Co-Chief Executive between June and September 2021. Christopher led Clinks’ work in supporting the voluntary sector, working closely with the Ministry of Justice and HM Prison and Probation Service to deliver a programme of infrastructure support to small and specialist voluntary organisations, as well as overseeing Clinks' membership, events, area-based support and thematic networks including the National Criminal Justice Arts Alliance. Prior to joining Clinks, Christopher was Co-Director at Unlock, a national charity for people with criminal records, for 8 years until 2021 after originally joining the charity in 2008. He led the development of the charity’s award-winning services for people with convictions, including a national helpline, online information hub and innovative tools to support people to navigate the challenges they face because of their criminal record. He developed and led a number of campaigns and policy initiatives and achieved systemic change through reforms to legislation and changes in policy and practice. Christopher has an LLB Law degree from the University of Hull and an LLM in Criminal Law and Criminal Justice from the University of Leeds. Outside of work, he is a trustee of YMCA Lincolnshire, he enjoys spending time with his young family and can often be found running or cycling somewhere in the Lincolnshire countryside. Zeta MacDonald - Deputy Chief Executive Expand Zeta developed an interest in criminal justice while studying criminology at university, which led her to become a pen pal to a prisoner in Malta. She has worked for a range of organisations, including The National Trust, the NHS, and a charity supporting girls and young women from disadvantaged backgrounds across the UK. She joined Prisoners Abroad in 2001, beginning her career in human resources. While working here, she completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management and later became the organisation’s Company Secretary. She is now a Chartered Member of the Institute of Personnel & Development. Zeta plays a key role in ensuring the sustainability of Prisoners Abroad, with a primary focus on generating the income needed to support its vital frontline services and external-facing work.
Nancy Wright - Head of Finance Expand Nancy has 30 years of experience working as an accountant. She received her Qualification in 1984 as a Certified Public Accountant in the state of California. Nancy spent several years working in the US in public accounting and in 1988 took a position with the internal audit department of Warner Bros. International. The job included international travel to Europe and the Far East. She then transferred to England in 1990 by Warner Bros. to take over as Financial Controller of Warner Bros. Cinemas. UK Ltd. Her experience in England also includes working as the Accounting Manager for DaimlerChrysler Services UK Ltd. At both multi-nationals, she was responsible for all accounting and finance functions including managing the accounts departments, preparing all financial reporting to both local management and to head office, preparing the budgets, and liaising as liaison with external auditors. She spent 3 years working as the accountant for a small charity and during that time became familiar with the accounting requirements for charities (SORP) as prescribed by the Charity Commission. She acted as Treasurer for the charity for 8 years and became Head of Finance at Prisoners Abroad in April 2003.
Laura Bevan - Director of Prisoner and Family Support Expand Laura first joined Prisoners Abroad as a caseworker in 2004, having graduated from University College London with a BA Hons in French. Laura then became the Prisoner & Family Service Manager, supporting a small team of caseworkers who help people in prison overseas and their families; she has responsibility for keeping things moving operationally, decision-making on difficult cases, partnership-building, liaison with fundraising and looking at service development. Laura has now joined our Leadership Team as Director of Prisoner and Family Support. She holds a Post-graduate Diploma in French to English translation and has undertaken some translation for CEP, the European Probation Organisation; she also speaks varying degrees of Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and German. She has worked at the NGO Penal Reform International and was a trustee for Action for Prisoners’ Families. She has visited prisons in Australia, Brazil, France, Ireland, Netherlands, Peru, Ukraine and Venezuela.
Theo Cresser - Information & Impact Officer Expand Theo’s journey at Prisoners Abroad started in 1997 as a casework volunteer using language skills from his BA Hons in French and Drama. A caseworker for several years, he has visited British prisoners in Thailand, Jamaica and Ecuador, and a few who had transferred back to the UK. Theo is now responsible for developing our monitoring and evaluation processes and evidencing the impact of the organisation’s work. The most enjoyable part of this role is reading what people have said about how we have helped them and sharing this with the team. Theo also produces and designs many of our publications including the handbooks and the client newsletter. For a period, he worked part-time at Prisoners Abroad alongside a role as Programme Tutor for the Probation Service in London. His extra-curricular activities include producing artwork for festivals and live events and singing with a community choir in Hackney.
Charlotte Flinterman – Director of Resettlement Support Expand Charlotte completed a BA in Social Work in the Netherlands and started her carrier as a Probation Officer for the Dutch Probation Service. In 2012 she moved to London where she completed her Msc in Criminology with Forensic Psychology. After her Masters she worked as a Probation Officer in London and as a seminar tutor in Criminology. In 2021, she co-wrote a chapter for the publication ‘Reimagining Probation Practice’, by Burke et.al. In 2017 Charlotte started at Prisoners Abroad as the Resettlement Manager, her responsibilities included overseeing the team's caseload of prisoners returning from overseas, collaborating with key stakeholders, service development and more. Charlotte has now joined the Leadership team as Director of Resettlement Support. Charlotte continues to volunteer for The Dutch Probation Service and visits Dutch citizens imprisoned in the UK and helps them prepare for their return to the Netherlands.
Elena González-Conde Linares - Senior Caseworker Expand Elena joined Prisoners Abroad in 2008 and is a Senior Caseworker in the Prisoner & Family Team. She provides advice and information to people in prison overseas and their families all around the world, with a focus on Spain and other Spanish-speaking countries. Elena holds a Law degree from Universidad de Comillas, Madrid and an LLM in Public International Law from Leiden University, where she developed a strong interest in international criminal law and human rights. Elena has also visited prisons in Thailand and Peru.
Christopher Gray - Human Rights Adviser Expand Christopher joined Prisoners Abroad in January 2024. He advises on the application of international human rights law to British people arrested and detained overseas. Previously, Christopher was an academic, specialising in international law and comparative approaches to human rights in the criminal justice system. He taught at the University of Bristol and the University of The Gambia. He has previously worked in a range of other roles in the human rights field, including for advocacy groups and NGOs, for special procedures of the UN Human Rights Council, as a consultant, and as a researcher for barristers and solicitors. Christopher has a LLB in Law from the University of Birmingham, and a LLM International Law, MSc Socio-legal Studies, and PhD in Law from the University of Bristol. Outside of work, Christopher likes cycling, yoga, and music.
Alan Hooker – Senior Family Services Coordinator Expand Alan supports the volunteers that run our family support groups around the country and coordinates this programme throughout the year. He also coordinates monthly themed and country focused family support and information groups. He ensures that we continue to send magazines and reading materials to many British prisoners detained abroad. He has a BA (Hons) in Modern Languages and International Studies. He speaks Spanish and has a diploma in public service interpreting. As part of his work, he has visited prisons in Venezuela and Spain where he met British prisoners and prison officials. He has been with Prisoners Abroad in his current role since 2013. Prior to that he was in the casework team from 1997 - 2005 and was part of a small team that helped to pioneer our proactive family support work.
Meg Huntly - Fundraising and Communications Officer Expand Meg joined Prisoners Abroad in 2022. She looks after Prisoners Abroad's digital communications, including its social media accounts and supporter mailing list. She also keeps the website up to date with blog posts and news stories and produces Prisoners Abroad’s postal appeals and supporter newsletters. Meg previously worked in the development team at Westminster Abbey and graduated in 2016 with a degree in English Literature from Queen Mary, University of London.
Natacha Maurin - Caseworker Expand Natacha is a caseworker in the Prisoner & Family team, and she joined Prisoners Abroad in September 2024. As a French-speaker, Natacha focuses on casework in Francophone regions. She also takes part in casework across all countries, sharing a caseload with the rest of the team. Prior to working with Prisoners Abroad, Natacha was a reporter, working for a financial trade publication, and interning at a regional news outlet in Spain. Natacha graduated in 2022 and holds a first-class BA degree in History and Modern Languages from the University of Cambridge. Outside of work, Natacha volunteers with Care4Calais, and can often be found at live music events.
Rina Parfitt - Trusts and Foundations Manager Expand Rina joined the fundraising team in 2018 and focuses on applying to larger Trusts and Foundations for multi-year projects. She also conducts research into potential new funders and is responsible for sending regular reports on the impact of donations. She has a BSc in Economics and a MA in Development Studies. Outside work she likes to play tennis, run, practice yoga and cook.
Matthew Pinches - Senior Caseworker Expand Matthew has been a caseworker at Prisoners Abroad since 2004. Over this time, he has carried out various overseas prison visiting trips to places such as Trinidad, Morocco, Thailand, Cambodia and the Philippines. He manages our survival grants system, ensuring that vital support reaches vulnerable detainees, and is also one of our media spokespeople. Matthew graduated from Birmingham University with an LLB (Law with French law) degree in 1993, and has a working knowledge of French & Spanish, so he’s able to support our native speakers booking visits and liaising with foreign prison authorities when necessary. Outside of work, Matthew is an avid vinyl collector/dj, so spends a lot of his free time behind the decks.
Emily Richards - Head of Giving and Communications Expand Emily joined Prisoners Abroad in 2016. She is responsible for media and communications as well as managing the individual and major donor giving streams. Before Prisoners Abroad she worked at various charities, in both paid and voluntary roles, specialising in marketing and communications. Emily has a BA in Archaeology and Anthropology from the University of Bristol. Outside of work she loves to travel.
Meghan Takwani – Senior Trusts and Statutory Officer Expand Meghan joined the Prisoners Abroad fundraising team in 2021. Her focus is on our fundraising from charitable trusts, foundations, and other grant-making bodies and she also looks after some of our government grant funding. She works closely with colleagues in the services team on our monitoring, impact and evaluation and is a member of the employee resource group for EDI (equity, diversity and inclusion). Meghan moonlights as a stand-up paddleboarding instructor and is a keen provider of office cake.
Poppy Caulfield - Resettlement Intern Expand Poppy is completing a placement year at Prisoners Abroad as part of an MSc in Applied Forensic Psychology at the University of Bath, including both her placement as an intern with the Resettlement team and her master’s dissertation. She holds a BSc in Psychology from the University of Bristol and has volunteered with PACT at HMP Bristol as a Family Services volunteer during university, gaining valuable experience supporting prisoners and their families. Poppy has also worked for three years in hospitality, progressing to Bar Team Leader and developing skills in leadership and customer service. Outside of work and study, she enjoys walking her dog and being by the beach.
Jo Monjardino - Resettlement Officer Expand Jo joined Prisoners Abroad’s Resettlement Team as a Resettlement Officer in August 2025. He provides resettlement support and advice to individuals returning to the United Kingdom following a period of imprisonment. He has held a range of roles across the criminal justice system, including working as a Prison Officer in a London prison and as a Policy Advisor in the Youth Justice Policy Unit at the Ministry of Justice. He is passionate about supporting people with experience of the criminal justice system to rebuild their lives and reintegrate back into the community. Jo holds a BSc in Physics from the University of Edinburgh and an MSc in Applied Custodial Leadership from Leeds Trinity University.
Mane Sevilla - Trust Fundraising Executive Expand Mane joined the Prisoners Abroad fundraising team in 2026. He is responsible for fundraising and researching charitable trusts. Before joining Prisoners Abroad, Mane worked in the fundraising team at Human Rights Observers in France. He graduated in 2024 with an MRes in Human Rights, Security and Conflict from the University of Bristol and in 2023 with a BA in International Relations and International Development from the University of Sussex. Outside of work Mane is a keen runner, and enjoys playing piano, tennis, and skateboarding.
