We are thrilled to announce that Dame Harriet Walter, one of our esteemed Patrons, is making a BBC Radio 4 Appeal for our vital overseas work.

Dame Harriet will share the story of Sean, who was imprisoned in the Caribbean for fifteen years. Being in prison abroad can be terrifying; in addition to the isolation that stems from separation from family and friends, brutal conditions often threaten the life, dignity and health of the person imprisoned. Sean lacked access to water, proper food or medical care, becoming dangerously sick. But, with Prisoners Abroad's help, he was able to purchase what he needed to survive and pay for a doctor's visit and vital medicine.

You can tune in to the appeal on:

Sunday 23rd July - 07:54 and 21:25

Thursday 27th July - 15:27

We would be so grateful if you could listen to the broadcast and donate. There is no other charity providing the support that we do and our work would not be possible without the help of the people who believe in our non-judgemental cause. Currently we are supporting many people just like Sean in 100 countries.

Listen to Dame Harriet tell us why she supports Prisoners Abroad and why she would love YOU, our community, to support this appeal:

Can you help to support our life-saving work today?

Prisoners Abroad translates human rights law into practical life-saving actions by providing prisoners access to vitamins and essential food, emergency medical care, freepost envelopes to keep in touch with home and books and magazines to help sustain mental health.

The impact of your support

Every donation towards our vital overseas work has a real and tangible affect on the lives of British prisoners around the world; in the last year, we have supported people in 100 countries. We are currently the only charity providing support of this nature, making your impact even more important. Thank you.
